Surviving Your First Winter In Iron Frontier
Iron Frontier doesn't warn you clearly enough about the first big storm. I lost two runs to it before I understood that survival starts on day one, not the night the temperature drops.
Prioritize the furnace and shelter before anything ambitious. It's tempting to expand for more resources, but a cozy, well-fed camp beats a sprawling frozen one. Assign your workers in overlapping shifts so nobody's standing idle in the cold.
Stockpile fuel well ahead of the storm indicator. When the blizzard hits, you want a buffer, not a scramble. I keep at least three days of reserve now and it's saved every run since.
Once you clear that first winter, the game opens up and you can start taking risks. But treat the early days as pure preparation and you'll make it through.
